Which team are are you rooting for in today’s big game, Marc?
Well, since you asked, I’ll tell you!
I’m cheering for Team America (f*&k yea!), and Team America will win if we have a peaceful transition of power OR peaceful maintenance of the status quo. This peaceful transition is what has actually made America great again (and again) for the last 244 years. I hope we keep the streak going, because it will be a powerful statement:
Even in the darkest of times; times when we can’t even agree on what is true; we still proudly cling to that one shared American value - democracy.
So, I’m going to play the optimist today and assume that our team will win. In that case, it doesn’t matter which candidate comes out on top, the American way of life will be preserved and in four years time we’ll get to do it all over again.
Even if, as many of us may feel, today’s election marks a pivotal moment in American history, the truth is that Democrat or Republican, the election has a minimal direct impact on our day-to-day lives.
It’s so easy to allow ourselves to get swept into election mania. The media provocation is strong. We’re bombarded from all sides while the most important things sit unattended at home. Who knows, one may be laying next to you in bed as you read this on your iPhone.
Since today is the big day and you know the result is now completely out of your control, I hope that you’ll take this opportunity to do something you love, something that lights you up. Take a moment to appreciate the people around you and all that you have to be grateful for.
Maybe you’re lucky enough to have this day off work. If so, I hope you find time to just chill and appreciate this moment in time.
For my part, I’ll be disconnecting and doing what I love most, spending the day with friends and family in nature. Nature always reminds me just how small we all are and how insignificant even the grandest events, like Election Day, feel when mapped across the vastness of space and time.
Good luck friends!

This Week’s Podcast:
Growing the Regenerative Agriculture Movement with Daniel Miller, Founder & CEO of Steward + Co-Founder of Fundrise
“There are millions of people who want to farm and are already farming, how about giving them more resources?”
I’ve spent the last year working with Dan Miller, the founder of Steward, in a business development role to help onboard new investors and partners to help achieve Steward’s mission of financing thousands of farmers practicing regenerative agriculture. Dan’s knowledge and experience in building innovative financing models are unparalleled.
We discuss a range of subjects from the definition of regenerative agriculture, to the challenges that small farmers face, to the problems with our current agriculture system, food deserts in America, and more. We also touch on a subject that has frustrated me for the last year – the issues with the current frameworks for “impact investing.”
If you care about the future of our food system, this one’s for you.
